Klarint ENTONE rheological additive is an organic derivative of a bentonite clay. It is a very easily dispersible additive for systems containing primarily aliphatic and other non-polar to medium-polarity solvents. BENTONE SD-1 can be added at any point in the paint manufacturing process and can be used for post-correction. It provides viscosity increase, reduces sagging of coatings on vertical surfaces and prevents settling of pigments and fillers.

Bentonite is an aluminum phyllosilicate clay composed of montmorillonite with the chemical formula (Ca,Na)0,3(Al,Mg)2Si4O10(OH)2 ·n H2O. Bentonite is a highly absorbent, viscous plastic clay which is a valuable binding, sealing, absorbing and lubricating agent in a huge variety of industries and applications.
